In today's fast-paced world, many people rush through their meals to save time. However, eating too quickly can have negative effects on both your digestion and weight.
When you eat fast, your brain takes about 20 minutes to register that your stomach is full. During this time, you might consume more food than necessary, leading to weight gain as the excess calories get stored as fat.
Eating quickly also prevents proper chewing, which can cause issues like indigestion, gas, and acidity. Additionally, it can lead to higher stress levels since you’re not allowing yourself to enjoy the meal.
Studies have shown that fast eaters have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
To improve digestion and manage your weight, try chewing each bite thoroughly, avoiding distractions like TV or phones, and ensuring you take at least 20 minutes to eat your meals calmly and mindfully.
