The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to enhance commuter convenience by introducing a door-to-door travel feature through its mobile app, Momentum 2.0. This new initiative allows passengers to book auto-rickshaws or bikes for seamless pickup and drop-off services, directly through the app.
The primary goal of this feature is to tackle first and last-mile connectivity issues, providing a more integrated commuting experience. Delhi Metro has partnered with Rapido to facilitate the booking of autos and bikes. Once a commuter selects the door-to-door service option, the app will automatically recommend the nearest metro stations and book a ride from the starting point to the closest metro station.
Similarly, just before reaching the destination metro station, the app will arrange another ride to complete the journey to the final destination. However, if the starting or ending point is within walking distance of a metro station, the app will not prompt a booking.
This initiative aims to streamline commuting while also aiding Delhi Metro in improving route planning and train schedules. The feature not only benefits daily passengers by offering greater convenience but also supports the city's push toward more integrated public transportation.
DMRC officials believe that this collaboration with Rapido will significantly enhance the overall travel experience for metro users. By combining public transit with on-demand vehicle services, Delhi Metro aims to offer a more user-friendly and efficient solution for urban mobility.
