Despite a recently announced ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has confirmed that Operation Sindoor remains active. Launched in response to the Pahalgam massacre, where 26 Indian tourists were killed in a terrorist attack, the operation aims to neutralize terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
On Sunday, the IAF stated that while it has successfully executed its assigned tasks with precision and professionalism, operations are still ongoing. The IAF emphasized that the missions were conducted deliberately and discreetly, aligning with national objectives. They urged the public to refrain from speculation and await an official briefing, which will be provided in due course.
The ceasefire, reportedly brokered by the United States, was short-lived. Within hours of the announcement, Pakistan initiated heavy shelling along the International Border in the Rajouri sector and Srinagar, prompting India's air defense systems to respond.
Operation Sindoor has been characterized by its swift and targeted strikes. The operation, involving coordinated efforts by the Indian Army and Air Force, targeted nine terrorist hideouts across Pakistan and PoK. According to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, approximately 100 terrorists were eliminated in these precision attacks. The operation's primary objective is to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent future attacks on Indian soil.
