The death toll from Nepal’s anti-corruption Gen Z protests has risen to 30, as authorities intensify efforts to restore calm in Kathmandu and beyond.
After a two-day closure, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) resumed flight operations from 6 pm on Wednesday, offering a critical lifeline to stranded travellers amid the crisis. Airlines have urged passengers to confirm flight schedules and carry valid identification and tickets.
Amid widespread unrest that resulted in arson, looting, and the resignation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, the Nepal Army has taken charge of security across the capital. Military patrols are now guarding strategic locations, including the airport, parliament, and other government buildings.
Authorities have also imposed a nationwide curfew, with restrictions on movement except for essential services, as the army works to contain violence and facilitate stability.
