The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has strongly denied recent statements made by former U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration suggesting that the United States played a mediating role in facilitating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
On Tuesday, New Delhi made it explicitly clear that there was no foreign involvement, including that of the U.S., in managing tensions or arranging any agreement between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
Indian officials described the U.S. claim as factually incorrect and misleading, stressing that all matters concerning national security and bilateral relations with Pakistan are handled independently.
This rejection came after Trump's repeated assertions that his government had successfully de-escalated the situation between the two South Asian nations.
India's Ministry of External Affairs reaffirmed that discussions and decisions on such sensitive issues are conducted solely through official diplomatic channels and without third-party mediation.
This firm stance reflects India's longstanding policy of resolving Indo-Pak conflicts bilaterally, without external interference, especially on matters concerning sovereignty and national defense.
