Jaiswal’s first 50 this season wasn’t just runs—it was a statement.

Rajasthan Royals delivered a commanding performance to hand Punjab Kings their first defeat of the IPL 2025 season, securing a comprehensive 50-run victory at Mullanpur. After being asked to bat first, RR’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal set the tone with a stylish half-century—his first of the season—helping his side post a formidable total of 205 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Punjab’s chase was derailed almost immediately, with two wickets falling in the very first over. The top order continued to collapse, and they found themselves in deep trouble at 40/4 within the first seven overs. Although Nehal Wadhera fought back with a resilient fifty, the Royals' bowlers maintained relentless pressure.

Maheesh Theekshana’s mystery spin and Sandeep Sharma’s disciplined pace proved too much for the Punjab batters, choking the run flow and picking up timely wickets. PBKS never looked in control after the early blows, and despite Wadhera’s efforts, they could only manage 155/9 at the end of their innings.

This defeat marks Punjab’s first loss of the tournament after an impressive start, while Rajasthan Royals continue to build momentum with their second straight win. RR’s all-round dominance—starting from a power-packed batting display to clinical execution with the ball—underlined their intent to be serious title contenders this season.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s return to form, coupled with Rajasthan’s bowling brilliance, gives the team plenty to be optimistic about as they look ahead in the IPL 2025 campaign.
