Born on May 6, 1861, Motilal Nehru was more than a brilliant lawyer; he was a trailblazer who shaped India's fight for independence.
From a Kashmiri Brahmin family in Agra, he rose to fame as a barrister in Allahabad, living lavishly at Anand Bhavan. Yet, his heart beat for India's freedom.
As a key Indian National Congress leader and two-time president (1919, 1928), he championed constitutional reforms. His bold Nehru Report (1928) envisioned a free India's framework, challenging British rule.
Co-founding the Swaraj Party, he pushed for self-rule with fiery resolve, even defying caste norms by rejecting purification rituals after European trips.
A mentor to his son, Jawaharlal Nehru, and patriarch of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, Motilal's legacy endures. His arrest during the 1930 Salt Satyagraha showed his unwavering spirit.
Dying in 1931, Motilal remains an icon of sacrifice and vision, inspiring generations to dream of a free, united India.
