In a major milestone for India’s cybersecurity landscape, Google has inaugurated its first-ever Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) in Hyderabad, marking its fifth global facility after Dublin, Munich, Malaga, and Tokyo . The announcement follows a strategic pact signed between Google and the Telangana government in early December, following a competitive global race .
This world-class hub will focus on AI-powered security tools, advanced research, and India-specific online safety solutions. It’s designed to foster deep collaboration among cybersecurity experts, strengthen digital defences, and train the next generation of safety engineers . The centre also aligns with Google’s plans to bolster fraud protection across its services, including Play Protect .
Hyderabad, already home to Google’s largest workforce outside the U.S. and its largest campus globally, is gearing up to host the new GSEC by early 2025—a move expected to create thousands of jobs and position the city as a major global cyber-tech hub.
This isn’t just an office - it's the dawn of India’s digital defence revolution.
