The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Delhi, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall across the city on Tuesday. The alert signals potentially disruptive weather conditions, with the possibility of waterlogging, traffic snarls, and localised flooding in low-lying areas.
According to IMD forecasts, the maximum temperature is expected to settle at 36 degrees Celsius, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching summer heat. However, humidity levels are likely to spike due to persistent showers throughout the day.
The rain is being driven by a strong monsoonal trough and moisture-laden winds sweeping in from the Bay of Bengal. Authorities have urged residents to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel during peak rain hours, and report any incidents of waterlogging or tree falls.
Commuters can expect delays, especially during the evening rush hour. With schools open and offices functioning normally, traffic movement is expected to remain tight across key routes like the Ring Road, Connaught Place, and the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.
Stay dry, stay safe - Delhi's monsoon has officially arrived!
