Leaving a plastic water bottle in your car during summer might seem harmless, but it can pose serious health risks. When exposed to high temperatures, especially above 50°C, chemicals like BPA and phthalates can leach from the plastic into the water.
These substances may disrupt hormones or lead to chronic health issues over time. Moreover, opened bottles create an ideal environment for bacterial growth in warm, enclosed spaces.
Heat can also alter the water's taste, making it stale or plastic-like - definitely not refreshing.
While one sip may not harm you, repeated exposure increases the risk. To stay safe and hydrated, opt for stainless steel or glass bottles that resist heat and chemical leaching.
Avoid leaving bottles in direct sunlight and drink water fresh when possible. Staying cool and hydrated is important, but make sure you’re doing it safely - your body will thank you.
