In 2025, 17 Members of Parliament have been selected for the Sansad Ratna Award, recognizing their outstanding contributions to parliamentary work during the 17th Lok Sabha.
Instituted in 2010 by the Prime Point Foundation and eMagazine PreSense, and inspired by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the award is based on data-driven assessments of MPs' performance in debates, questions raised, attendance, and private member bills.
Among the prominent awardees this year are Supriya Sule (NCP), Shrikant Shinde (Shiv Sena), and Amol Kolhe (NCP), Ravi Kishan (BJP) who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to legislative responsibilities.
The Sansad Maha Ratna Award, presented once every five years for consistent excellence across an entire term, will also be conferred during the 2025 ceremony.
In addition to individual MPs, two Parliamentary Standing Committees will be honored for their impactful reports and contributions. The selection process is overseen by a jury headed by the Chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes, ensuring credibility and transparency.
Though not a government initiative, the Sansad Ratna Awards have become a symbol of democratic accountability and a benchmark for parliamentary excellence in India.
