In a recent statement, former President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, declaring that any attempt on his life would result in the "obliteration" of the nation. This pronouncement comes amid heightened tensions following the 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, an event that has led to ongoing threats against Trump and former members of his administration. 

Trump revealed that he has provided explicit instructions to his advisers to carry out a decisive response should Iran succeed in assassinating him. He emphasized that such an action would lead to Iran being "completely obliterated." This directive aligns with his administration's "maximum pressure" campaign, which has included stringent sanctions aimed at curbing Iran's nuclear ambitions and its support for militant groups. 

The backdrop to this development includes credible intelligence reports indicating Iranian plots to assassinate Trump and other high-profile U.S. figures as retaliation for Soleimani's death. In response, the U.S. Secret Service has intensified security measures around the former president. Notably, Trump has also withdrawn security details for former officials such as Mike Pompeo and John Bolton, who have similarly faced Iranian threats due to their hardline stances against Tehran.
