President-elect Donald Trump addressed a lively audience at AmericaFest 2024 in Phoenix, dismissing rumors about relinquishing his presidency to tech billionaire Elon Musk. Trump joked, “I’m safe, you know why? He wasn’t born in this country,” referring to Musk’s South African origins.
Rumors suggesting Trump might cede the presidency to Musk gained traction in some media outlets but were firmly rebuffed. “They’re on a new kick. All the different hoaxes. No, no, that’s not happening,” Trump stated. He praised Musk, a significant campaign donor, for his intelligence and influence. Musk’s role in Washington has grown, especially as co-leader of the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency.
During the rally, Trump unveiled a sweeping agenda, promising urban renewal, tax cuts, and wage increases. Declaring January 20 as “Liberation Day,” he vowed to end progressive “woke” policies and condemned critical race theory and transgender policies in schools and the military.
Trump pledged to sign executive orders on his first day to ban transgender Americans from military service and women’s sports. “With the stroke of my pen, on day one, I will stop the transgender lunacy,” he declared, energizing his supporters.
The rally concluded with Trump’s signature phrase, “Together we will fight, fight, fight, and together we will win, win, win!” as he danced to the Village People’s “YMCA,” leaving his supporters cheering.
