Jo mango khareed rahe ho, wo asli hai ya chemical bomb?

As summer approaches, Alphonso mangoes—often called the “king of mangoes”—begin to flood markets. While they are known for their rich taste, golden-yellow skin, and creamy texture, it has become increasingly difficult to distinguish real Alphonsos from fake or artificially ripened ones.

Real Alphonso mangoes are unique due to their distinct sweetness, citrussy flavor, and natural aroma, especially near the stem. Their texture is smooth with very few fibres, and the shape is typically oval with a slight point at the tip. A genuine Alphonso will emit a sweet, organic scent and will have a firm, non-stringy feel. On the other hand, fake or chemically treated mangoes may have overly shiny or reddish skin, little to no aroma, or an unnatural taste that is either too bland or acidic.

To avoid being misled, buyers should carefully assess the mango's fragrance, color, shape, and taste. Real Alphonsos offer not just authentic flavor but also greater nutritional benefits and safety. In contrast, fake varieties—often ripened with harmful chemicals—can be hazardous to health and lack the nutritional value of naturally ripened fruits.

Choosing the right Alphonso mango ensures a premium eating experience and reduces the risk of chemical exposure. Consumers are advised to buy from trusted sources and stay cautious of visually appealing but artificially enhanced mangoes that don’t deliver the true Alphonso quality.
