On May 7, 2025, air travel across northern and western India faced severe disruptions as 25 airports, including Srinagar, Jammu, and Delhi, shut down following Operation Sindoor's missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. Over 200 flights were cancelled, with IndiGo alone grounding 165.
Air India, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air also suspended services, offering refunds or rescheduling waivers. Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport saw 35 cancellations, including international flights. Qatar Airways and KLM halted Pakistan routes due to airspace closures.
The strikes, retaliating for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26, led to heightened security and airspace restrictions, rerouting dozens of international flights. Passengers were urged to check flight statuses as airlines scrambled to manage the chaos, with disruptions expected until May 10.
