The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has asked all news channels and social media users to avoid live coverage of defence operations after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
The advisory, issued on April 25, says showing real-time images or source-based reports can harm national security and help enemies.
It reminded media of past incidents like the Kargil war and Mumbai attacks, where open coverage caused problems.
Meanwhile, intelligence agencies have listed 14 local terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir. They are aged between 20 and 40 and support Pakistan-based groups like Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Some key names include Adil Rehman Dentoo, Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Ahsan Ahmed Sheikh, and Zubair Ahmed Wani. Many are active in Pulwama, Shopian, Anantnag, and Kulgam districts. Some have been involved in terror since as early as 2015.
Security forces have started major operations in South Kashmir to find and stop these terrorists after the deadly Pahalgam attack.
