A recent claim suggesting that the Indian government has not opened a bank account for the modernisation of the Indian Army is inaccurate. The Ministry of Defence has clarified that such an account does not exist.
The confusion arose from a social media post that misrepresented the status of the Armed Forces Battle Casualty Welfare Fund (AFBCWF), a tri-service initiative designed to provide immediate financial assistance to the families of soldiers, sailors, and airmen who are killed or grievously injured in active military operations. The Defence Ministry has stated that the AFBCWF is a separate entity and is not linked to the modernisation funds of the armed forces.
The government has emphasized its commitment to the welfare of its armed forces and their families, highlighting that the AFBCWF is part of ongoing efforts to support those who serve the nation. The Ministry of Defence has urged the public to verify information from credible sources before sharing or acting upon it.
In conclusion, the claim about the absence of a bank account for the modernisation of the Indian Army is unfounded.
