A young founder’s personal challenge sparked a broader vision: when Chandrajeet Rajawat struggled as a teen chess player with limited coaching access, he realised India lacked structured, engaging learning pathways for chess — a game with proven cognitive benefits. That insight led him to launch Kingdom of Chess, an EdTech platform from Udaipurthat has grown over tenfold and now trains learners across India, the United States, the United Kingdom, the UAE and more than 30 other markets worldwide.
Instead of beginning lessons with rules, the platform’s Story-First Method turns chess pieces into characters and strategic concepts into narratives that children — some as young as four — can emotionally connect with. This foundation makes complex planning and decision-making skills feel intuitive. As learners progress, AI-driven game analysis, interactive live sessions and support from FIDE-rated coaches and grandmasters add depth and challenge.
The startup has also gained institutional recognition: at the Innovation Day Startup Conclave in Rajasthan, it received an innovation grant for contributing to sports education technology and local employment generation. Beyond digital courses, Kingdom of Chess is investing in real-world impact, hosting international tournaments and building community around the game.
With structured pedagogy, global reach and strong local backing, Kingdom of Chess is positioning India as a serious contender in the global brain-training and cognitive education market — turning a traditional game into a modern educational engine.
