On March 7, 2026, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) achieved a historic feat as the Prime Minister flagged off the remaining sections of the Pink Line expansion, effectively closing the loop to create a 71.15 km "Ring Metro." This corridor is now the longest circular metro line in India and among the longest in the world, specifically designed to bypass the city's heavily congested central hubs.
Key Features of the Ring Metro
• Seamless Integration: The Ring Metro features 11 interchange stations, connecting the Pink Line with the Green, Red, Blue, Yellow, and Violet lines, as well as the Airport Express and the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).
• Driverless Technology: The entire corridor operates on Unattended Train Operation (UTO) mode, utilizing the advanced Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system for enhanced safety and frequency.
• Economic & Environmental Impact: By providing a direct peripheral route, the Ring Metro is expected to reduce daily vehicular traffic on the Ring Road by an estimated 20%, leading to a significant drop in carbon emissions and fuel consumption.
• Enhanced Accessibility: The line provides high-speed connectivity to major markets, hospitals, and transport hubs, including Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, and Azadpur, benefiting over 1.5 million daily commuters.
