As many Indian students find global classroom access out of reach due to cost and location, Anil Srinivasan, founder and CEO of experiential learning platform KRUU, argues that global learning must be brought home to students. He believes the traditional focus on degrees, ranks and entrance exams in India often values credentials over actual understanding and problem-solving ability, limiting students’ future readiness. Instead of chasing foreign degrees as a marker of success, education should emphasize skills like creativity, critical thinking and collaboration that prepare learners for an uncertain future.
Drawing on his background in neuroscience and arts-integrated education, Srinivasan champions experiential, problem-first learning where students work on real challenges — from building simple engineering projects to exploring topics like artificial intelligence through impactful, guided activities. This approach encourages understanding through doing rather than rote memorization, helping students discover interests and competencies earlier.
KRUU’s model extends beyond elite schools, reaching students in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities and smaller towns, adapting to local infrastructure so experiential learning is accessible regardless of geography. Projects use basic materials and school resources, proving mindset and awareness matter more than expensive tools. The goal is to help students understand themselves and their capabilities before making career choices, ensuring that exposure and opportunities are foundational — not a privilege tied to global mobility or income.
